Description

Mary Blair Cinderella Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1950). "There's nothing to believe in... nothing," says Cinderella after her evil stepsisters destroy her dress for the ball. This dramatic scene with Cinderella takes place seconds before the Fairy Godmother appears and shows her that she still has something to believe in. This is a Mary Blair (1911 - 1978) original concept painting of Cinderella crying on the floor, in her ripped "blue" gown, with a full moon overhead. It's one of the most poignant and touching Blair Cinderella pieces we have seen. Blair's wonderfully imaginative style could make any animated production look a little more magical. She was a master of watercolors, especially the opaque watercolor medium of gouache, which made up many of her vivid paintings. One of her defining factors was her innovative use of color. This piece is painted in gouache on 9" x 8" board. This is production art and thus has pin holes in the corners with light edge wear and smudges. Overall condition is Very Good.
