The Art of Animation Book 1st Edition by Bob Thomas Signed by Walt Disney (Walt Disney, 1958). This is a RARE first edition book titled The Art of Animation by Bob Thomas with the staff of the Walt Disney Studio. This nearly 70-year-old book details the animated feature films and classic shorts from Disney Studios up to 1958 with a special emphasis on Sleeping Beauty (1959). Inside the sections include Story, Characters, Sound, Music, Direction, Layout, Animation, Background and Color, and the future of animation. This historical book is signed and dedicated by Walt Disney himself to Mary Anderson stating, "To Mary Anderson, With Best Wishes - Walt Disney." Mary Anderson was one of the few female animators along with Fran Marr, Doris Collins, and many more who were working in animation during the 1950s, specifically on the masterpiece Sleeping Beauty. This is the definitive book into how traditional animation was made and a rare Disney item indeed! The book does not come with a slipcover.
