Description

Ub Iwerks Steamboat Willie Boat Animation Drawing Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 1928). You'll be hard-pressed to find a Disney animation drawing with more historical significance than this group of four 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings of Mickey's titular boat from Steamboat Willie, created by Disney Legend and long-time friend of Walt Disney Ub Iwerks (1901 - 1971). This memorable and groundbreaking short debuted on 11/18/1928 at the Colony Theater and was completely hand drawn by Iwerks, revolutionizing the animation industry as one of the first cartoons with synchronized sound. It is undoubtedly one of the most important cartoons created in terms of its lasting impact, the start of Disney's legacy and Iwerks' many innovations in animation. These outstanding animation drawings aren't only from the short that started it all - they're from the opening scene! These graphite drawings of the steamboat would have been the first thing audiences saw after the title card, found at about 0:20 of this truly iconic short. The drawings are noted as 6, 9, 12, and 15 in the lower right corner. Each is also rubber-stamped on the back as 23, 26, 29, and 32. Each drawing is huge on the page, ranging from about 9.25'' x 6.75'' to 9.75'' x 6.75''. Good to Very Good condition with minor edge and handling wear, light age-related toning, and faint creasing for what could be the prize of your Disney collection.
