Dragon Tiger Gate Tiger Wong Book 831 Preliminary Cover Hand-Colored Print (Jade Dynasty Group, c. 2016). From the long-running Hong Kong comic series Dragon Tiger Gate comes this vibrant hand-colored print featuring preliminary cover art for the 831st book in the series. Known in the West as Oriental Heroes, this long-running series was created by Tony Wong Yuk-long in 1970 and was notably the first manhua (Chinese comic) to feature action and fighting, establishing a new genre within the medium. This hand-colored print was created for Book 831 (also noted as Issue 2111) and was first published on April 21, 2016, by the Jade Dynasty Group. This cover features Tiger Wong, AKA Wong Siu-fu, in a 9.75" tall dynamic high kick pose with a stunningly detailed Fenghuang (Chinese phoenix) behind him spanning the page. The piece has been rendered with mixed media hand-coloring over print linework on bond paper trimmed to approximately 8.25" x 11.75". A print of the final published cover is also included for reference. With typical studio handling and edge wear, overall this stunning hand-colored preliminary cover is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
