Disneyland - 50th Anniversary Monorail Mark I (Red) SOLD-OUT Limited Edition Master Replica (Walt Disney, 2005). "The Highway in the Sky!" The original, aerodynamic Monorail Mark I (Red) from the world-famous Disneyland Monorail in Tomorrowland is celebrated with the Walt Disney Collectibles Monorail Mark I (Red) 50th Anniversary Limited Edition by Master Replicas! In 1959, the Disneyland-ALWEG Monorail System was billed as the "First in America" and debuted as one of six spectacular adventures in Tomorrowland. Decades later and in honor of the Disneyland 50th Anniversary, Walt Disney Collectibles partnered with Master Replicas for two stunning tributes to the innovative and futuristic transportation - Monorail Red and Monorail Blue. Designed by the illustrious team of Kevin & Jody, Will Babington and Rich Allsmiller, Walt Disney Imagineer Bob Gurr's 1959 design comes to life as a miniature mixed media masterpiece of resin and metal. The original space-age design is reflected in small scale and includes iconic features as the "bubble dome", bogie wheels in the undercarriage, illuminating bright-red beacon light and taillights (requiring 2 button cel batteries; not included), and a plethora of details sure to excite and delight the most-avid Monorail enthusiast. Measuring 22" long, the three-car train respectfully straddles a length of tiny I-shaped "Monorail Beamway" and is presented on a display base along with a museum quality plaque reading "Disneyland Monorail Mark I LE 1959." Finally, the model is accompanied by an exclusive cloisonné pin commemorating the original Monorail logo. The Monorail Mark I (Red) 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Master Replica was released unnumbered, in an appropriate edition of 1,959 pieces, swiftly sold out, and has since been sought after by fans and collectors. A complimentary Monorail Mark I (Blue) 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Master Replica was also issued and is included in another listing of this auction sale. Measuring approximately 21.75" x 4.5" x 7", this rare model is in Very Good condition, with functioning lights, and exhibiting light wear from handling. This collectible is accompanied by its original Master Replicas Certificate of Authenticity and polyfoam packaging and box. The box exhibits scuffs, scratches, and much wear.
