Description

The Fox and the Hound Oversized Forest and Waterfall Production Background (Walt Disney, 1981). The climatic clash with a bear ends with a long pan out, beginning with a tight closeup of the rushing waterfall, eventually pulling back to reveal this incredible panoramic, sun-kissed view. This leads to one of the most memorable moments in the film, as Copper stands between his friend Tod and Amos Slade's shotgun, and even old cold-hearted Slade realizes what this brave fox did to save his life. You can see the full vista at the 1:17:34 timestamp. The background artists on this superbly animated feature included Daniela Bielecka, Brian Sebern, and Kathleen Swain. The art is just as seen on the screen, except the waterfall was animated over the pale blue image on the artboard. The art is painted with gouache and airbrushed highlights on a piece of skimmed illustration board, with an approximate image area of 24.25" x 17.75" on a 27.5" x 19.5" backing board. It's one of the most remarkable background paintings we've seen to date, and you will be impressed when you view this wonderful work of art in person. The condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.
