Description

Richard Scarry Nicky Goes to the Doctor Page 8 Illustration Original Art (Golden Press, 1972). It's time for little rabbit Nicky to visit the doctor in this classic Richard Scarry (1919 - 1994) storybook, and in this original hand-colored painted image with a black line art acetate overlay, we see a small mother mouse and her child in a little yellow car that a cat with a sore toe almost gets in the way of. The red car belongs to Nicky's mother, who has arrived on the next page, which according to a handwritten note, is meant for "pick up old art" so this page is left blank on the artboard. The overall size of the artboard is 22.5" x 16", and the page 8 art has an image area of approximately 10.5" x 7". The art is created by using watercolor over the light blue printed image on the board; the acetate overlay is the black line art, and this is what was imaged for the book. The art is in Good to Very Good condition with some handling wear and contact marks on the blank area that do not affect the image.
