An image that should be instantly recognizable among Eva fans, this is a spectacular hand-painted original production cel featuring Misato Katsuragi's silhouetted hand from the opening title sequence of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Beloved for its fast pace, evocative imagery, and the upbeat theme song "Cruel Angel's Thesis," the opening sequence for Hideaki Anno's groundbreaking masterpiece is widely considered one of the greatest of all time, and a favorite among anime enthusiasts. Seen 38 seconds into every episode, this rare 12 field cel has a hand-painted image area of 8.25" x 6.25" on the 12 field cel. This lot includes the matching original animation drawing rendered in graphite and color pencil on 12 field animation paper. Both the cel and drawing are numbered B9 in the upper right corner, and they show minor handling and edge wear from normal studio use. Light toning at the top edge of the drawing, and the condition overall is Very Good.
