Description

Uncle Tom's Cabaña Red Hot as Little Eva Production Cel on Custom Painted Background (MGM, 1947). The scintillating Red Hot sings a sizzling "Carry me back to old Virginny" in this typically frantic Tex Avery-directed cartoon - wow! Here's our little Southern sweetheart as "Little Eva" in an original hand-inked, hand-painted 12 field production cel. This banned-for-television cartoon is considered "politically incorrect" today for its racially insensitive depiction of Uncle Tom and a Black child who listens to Tom as he tells the film's story, but this was simply a product of its unenlightened time; it was originally released to theaters on 7/19/1947. Just take in Red's undeniable sex appeal as she jazzes up this old song to the delight of Simon Legree, who fills in for the Wolf in the short. Red was animated by the great Preston Blair; she appears in this pose at about the 4:46 mark. Her large image measures approximately 7" x 9" on a custom airbrushed background, which complements the cel very nicely. The cel is in Very Good condition with minor handling wear and a slight waviness around the figure.
