Description
Akira Tetsuo Production Cel Sequence of 3 with Motorcycle Animation Drawing (Tokyo Movie Shinsha, 1988). "Twin ceramic rotor drives on each wheel... And these are... computer controlled anti-lock brakes." Tetsuo admires Kaneda's motorcycle in this dynamic sequence of three original production cels with motorcycle animation drawing from the gritty 1988 hit film Akira. This iconic sequence comes from the first on-screen appearance of the archetypal bike with Tetsuo seen beginning near the 3:11 timestamp seated behind the cockpit-like windscreen admiring all the features the impressive piece of machinery has to offer. He has been hand-painted to half-figures averaging 4.75" x 3.5" in size across the sequence of 15.25" x 10" cels which are numbered in the top right. Cel B30 is a multilayer cel featuring a partial linework test for the motorcycle over a plain while sheet of bond paper, cel B56 is paired with a print of the linework layer for display purposes, and cel B5 is presented over the motorcycle's animation drawing. The drawing features the same partial portion of the bike as the linework layer, and has been rendered in graphite and colored pencil to an image area of 10" x 6" filling a large portion of the 15.25" x 10" animation sheet which includes color callouts within/near the image area and cel layer information at the top edge. With typical handling and edge wear including some linework fading with small areas of restoration, minor surface wear/debris, and minor corner creasing, overall this incredible sequence with motorcycle drawing is in Very Good condition.More information about Akira.
