Description

Shanghaied Mickey Mouse and Pete Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1934). In this Burt Gillett-directed animated short from 1/13/1934, Mickey and Minnie Mouse have been captured and held hostage on Peg Leg Pete's pirate ship. When Pete tries to woo Minnie, she kicks him as he tries to kiss her. This prompts Mickey to break free of his ropes, grab a swordfish, and challenge Pete. We find this image starting around the 2:33 mark in Shanghaied. This scene was reused in a 1955 episode of the Disneyland television series titled The Goofy Success Story. Scenes from Shanghaied were also used in the 2010 Wii game, Disney Epic Mickey: Mickey Mouse and the Magic Brush. The drawing was rendered in graphite on 12 field animation paper and framed to 19.5" x 16". Frame sold as-is. This is actual vintage working production art with lightly toned paper, and minor handling wear; condition is Very Good.
