Description

Wonderful World of Oz - Proposed Theme Park - "Glinda the Good" One-of-a-Kind Resin Figure/Maquette Hand-Painted and Signed by Joseph DeMeis for Landmark Entertainment (LEG, 1999/2007). This impressive resin maquette depicts Glinda the Good, L. Frank Baum's powerful sorceress and guardian of Princess Ozma, and ruler of the Quadling Country. Standing just under 13" tall, the figure was created by Landmark Entertainment as a presentation sample for The Wonderful World of Oz, a proposed 1990s theme park planned near Kansas City, Kansas. Glinda's gown shimmers with embedded sparkles, and the maquette is meticulously hand-painted and signed on the base by Joseph DeMeis. A cofounder of Landmark and former Disney Imagineer, DeMeis helped shape the signature look of Landmark's themed projects and previously contributed to attractions at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, EPCOT Center, and Tokyo Disneyland. Though Glinda's wand is missing, the presentation piece captures the optimistic elegance of Oz while representing a fascinating chapter in Oz-lore. In Very Good condition, with only light handling, it displays beautifully and makes a standout centerpiece for any Oz or themed-entertainment collection.
