Description

The Disney Store - Logo Sign Prop (Walt Disney, c. 1980s-90s). Here's a RARE Disney Store sign. The sign is constructed of particle board and painted in pinks and blues. This super cool sign measures an impressive 37" x 16". The Disney logo is cutout and mounted on the board giving it an element of depth. The Disney Store was the first "retail-tainment," or entertainment store, launching a whole new category soon followed by other studio competitors. The first Disney Store opened in the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, CA on March 28, 1987. Ten years later the company had over 700 locations! Today only 22 Disney Stores remain, making this sign a treasured piece of Disney history. The sign exhibits edge wear with smudging and scuffs throughout with some water staining just below the "Di" in Disney and to the left of the "T" in the top center area. The tip of a nail is poking through in the bottom center/right blue border. It has a wire hanger on the back. Overall condition is Fair. The piece would display nicely in any collection as it currently is, but with a little restoration it would really pop.
