Louis Ravielli U.S. Marines In Action! #1 Cover Preliminary #1 Original Art and Sepia-tone Print (Avon, 1952). Louis Ravielli created this rough design on the back of his own personal stationery, as a cover suggestion for the first issue of this title. It seems he provided at least two layouts (the other one is offered in this same weekly auction), and then he and the editor (Sol Cohen?) designed the published cover using elements from both. In this case, the struggling figures in the foreground was chosen. Rendered in ink and watercolor over graphite on 8.5" x 11" paper. Has been folded, with some wrinkles. In Very Good condition.
