Virgil Ross - Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner Drawing Original Art (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). The Roadrunner catches Wile E. reading a Roadrunner cookbook in this drawing inspired by the Chuck Jones-directed theatrical compilation Adventures of the Roadrunner. It's rendered in graphite and blue pencil on 12 field 3-peghole paper and signed by longtime Warner Brothers animator Virgil Ross (1907 - 1996). Mr. Ross was known for his action and dance sequences, as well as his funny facial expressions. Several of the cartoons he worked on were nominated for Academy Awards, and Mr. Ross himself was given the prestigious Winsor McCay Award in 1988. After leaving Warner Brothers. he spent time at several other studios, most notably Hanna-Barbera and Filmation. Mr. Ross created drawings like this to sell at live appearances to promote his line of hand-painted limited edition cels. The overall image measures approximately 9" x 9". It shows minor handling and condition is Very Good.
