Description

Gene Ahern Our Boarding House with Major Hoople Daily Single-Panel Comic Strip Original Art dated 11-20-34 (NEA Service, Inc., 1934). An unusual episode without star player Major Amos Hoople: The old windbag is on everybody's mind, however, as the cynical boarders at Hoople Manor gossip about the Major's investment in an also-ran racehorse. One can only wonder how Buster, Clyde, and Mack manage to pay their room-and-board fees, inasmuch as they never seem to do much besides chain-smoke cigarettes and run their jabber-mouths. Prime-period Ahern, here, with dialogue as colorful and detail-rich as the art itself. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12" x 11". Moderately age-toned, with noticeable but light interior scuffing and one yellowed lettering correction (upper left). Very Good condition.
