Description

Harry J. Tuthill The Bungle Family and Little Brother Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 9-11-32 (McNaught Syndicate, 1932). Tuthill regarded children with a cynical contempt similar to that of his Hollywood contemporary, W.C. Fields. This episode would fit right into one of Fields' movies: Hapless George Bungle undertakes to rescue a "lost" child -- a manipulative little whiner. Brilliant pacing, with all panels adding up to one unified and airy composition. Mr. Bungle's closing remark is the perfect finishing touch. Accompanied by Tuthill's companion-strip, or "topper," Little Brother. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 21.25" x 28.25". Very Good condition, with overall toning and lightly barked edges.
