Description
Alex Raymond Rip Kirby Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-24-55 (King Features Syndicate, 1955). The most thoroughly mature illustrator in the comics trade, Raymond had conquered every genre by his 40s -- crime melodrama, with Secret Agent X-9; science-fantasy, with Flash Gordon; high adventure, with Jungle Jim, even humor, with an early ghost-artist hitch on Blondie. Rip Kirby found Raymond thoroughly in command of both romance and private-eye intrigues, as captured in this seafaring episode from the last stretch of the artist's life. Raymond's death in 1956 left a gap that still has yet to be filled. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 20" x 5.75". Moderate toning and stain-spotting. Very Good condition.More information about Alex Raymond. See also: Raymond, Alex Artist.
