Description

Walt Ditzen Fan Fare Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 5-2-73 (Publishers-Hall Syndicate, 1973). Ditzen's buoyant, balloon-like figures delighted sports fans for nearly 30 years. The artist had designed Fan Fare for the newspapers' sporting sections, but many publications played it on their general-interest funny pages. This techno-timely installment (acknowledging the spread of cable TV) comes from the last year of Ditzen's life. Ditzen was a cartoonist's cartoonist, hailed by Charles Schulz as a key influence upon the development of Peanuts. Some papers ran Ditzen's feature as Fun Fare during the 1960s-70s. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 16.25" x 5.75". There is a bit of glue staining/scuffing in the title/byline area. Otherwise, the piece is in Very Good condition.
