Description

William Donahey The Teenie Weenies Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 4-4-65 (News Syndicate Co., 1965). Donahey started The Teenie Weenies in 1912, originally in homage to Palmer Cox's The Brownies. Donahey would continue the strip for nearly 60 years -- combining a talent for nature drawings with an affinity for cartooning. Each installment is distinguished by one large illustration (part-realistic, part-cartoon), to be accompanied by a storybook-style narrative text. A recurring feature is an inset of a featured character, designed like a paper doll. This gem is fashioned from ink over graphite with an image area of 13.25" x 8.5". Faint toning. Excellent condition. From the Ray Edw Collection.
