Description
Stan Freberg's Personal DVD Copy of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World Live Event Special (Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Science, 2012). Stanley Kramer's classic 1963 comedy It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World was honored on July 9, 2012 in a special presentation as part of "The Last 70MM Film Festival." Hosted by Billy Crystal, this event reunited a number of actors from that film, including comedy/advertising legend Stan Freberg (1926 - 2015). Stan not only appeared in a small role, he also concocted the ad campaign for the film, and he was an invited special guest. Other stars included Carl Reiner, Mickey Rooney, Barrie Chase (who did the wild dance for Sylvester, played by Dick Shawn), Jonathan Winters, and Marvin Kaplan. An exclusive 37-minute DVD of the event was prepared for these special guests, and here's Stan's copy, along with the letter (on The Academy stationery) thanking Stan for his participation. The letter is signed by Randy Haberkamp, who organized the event. This special DVD is rare, and was never sold to the public (note: does NOT include the 1963 film).
