Description

John Thornton and Robert Hayward Webb Flamingo Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 2-10-52 (Phoenix Features, 1952). Flamingo is a creation of the Iger Studio, which dealt primarily in the funnybooks of Fiction House and Superior Comics, among others. The high-adventure strip pivots upon the misadventures of an exotic heroine, who is the dominant figure in this impressive installment. The touch of Bob Webb, who was Jerry Iger's resident art director, is evident in the panel compositions, and in the masculine faces. Signed by Thornton, and by writer Ruth Roche. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 18.75" x 5.25". Moderate age-toning and marginal staining. Excellent condition.
