John Gee Highlights for Children Timbertoes Comic Strip #8 Original Art (c. 1950s). Artist/author John Gee (1895 - 1977) began his fan-favorite comic strip The Timbertoes in 1951, about a family made of wood -- Pa, Ma, son Tommy, daughter Mabel, plus their animals Spot the dog, Splinter the cat, Butter the goat, and Troy the horse. Here's the original art for an early full-page strip from when the family was only Ma, Pa, and Tommy; in it the Timbertoes find their house flooded when a big rain storm rolls in. The art comes from John Gee's personal archives The art is in ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image size of 11.5" x 15.5". Handling wear, with a small edge tear in the bottom right corner, with small stains and board toning; Very Good condition.
