Description

Terry Gilliam - "Studio Tours" Painting Original Art (c. 1980s). Famed animator for Monty Python's Flying Circus (as well as being an accomplished writer and director), Terry Gilliam created this bit of biting humor aimed at the Hollywood studio industry. From the monolithic letters which remind us of the Life of Brian movie poster, to the bizarre smiling man, down to the "normal people" in grey tone wash, this piece easily conjures up images of Gilliam's past work with the Python troupe. Crafted in ink and gouache over graphite on art paper with a matted image area of 12" x 15.75". Glass front framed to 17" x 21". Signed in the image area. There are some very light creases in the image area: in the top right corner, just the down side from that above the star, then the lower right side across from the gray couple, there is a visible crease through the gray couples' heads, on the left edge across from the yellow ribbon, and just out from the cornucopia. There is a very slight waviness to the paper, causing the shadow at the top at the matting edge. Overall, in Very Good condition.
