Description

Dave Cockrum (attributed) Doc Savage Unpublished Daily Comic Strip Pitch Piece Original Art (unpublished, 1970s). A dandy relic of an ambitious attempt to revive the old-school pulp magazines' Doc Savage franchise as a newspaper-comics attraction. The project promised great things but ran afoul of a syndicate bias against novelistic continuity in a daily-gag comic-strip environment. This introductory sequence surveys some of Savage's "Fabulous Five" team of crime-busting assistants. Although the art is unsigned, the lettering is thought to be by Gaspar Saladino. The ink-on-Bristol art measures 14" x 4.25" (framed to 21.5" x 11.5") and is in Excellent condition.

More Information: Edit: Art attribution changed from Ron Frenz/Bob McLeod to Dave Cockrum. Date changed from 2013 to c. 1970s.
