Description
Dan DeCarlo and Rudy Lapick (attributed) Wilbur #86 Complete 6-Page Story "My Buddy" Original Art (Archie Comics, 1959). Wilbur is an alternate-reality version of Archie -- same studio, same publisher, generally the same talents, but significantly different. Wilbur Wilkin, a milder version of Archie Andrews, suffers the torments of the darned after his treacherous pal Alec (a harsher Reggie Mantle) catches him in an indiscretion. Interesting to compare the different trademarks and see how the company used Wilbur to stretch its style in a slightly more mature-minded direction. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12" x 18". Moderate toning. Logotype missing from splash. Otherwise Very Good condition.Lookup the Comic Book in our Guide
