Description

Disneyland - Keystone Kops Constable Costume Hat Badge (Walt Disney, c. 1950s-1960s). The Keystone Kops were a quartet of saxophone players that entertained guests on Disneyland's Main Street. They blended in with the turn-of-the-century décor of Main Street with their costumes styled after British "bobbies" (police officers) and stood out for their comedy-laced performances. This unique piece is an original park-used costume hat badge from the uniform of a Keystone Kops performer. These badges, reading "Constable," ornamented the rounded police hats that the saxophone players wore. This fantastic hat badge features the word "Constable" in bold black letters, surrounded by a wreath of leaves. The metal badge is engraved on its back with the number 878448989, and it has two pins on the back used to anchor it to the costume hat. The badge measures about 2.5" x 2". It is in Very Good condition, with minor handling and edge wear, including some minor scuffing and tarnishing.
From the Rummell Collection.
