Description

Bambi Concept Drawing by Nino Carbe Original Art (Walt Disney, 1942). Presented in this lot is a superb concept piece from Bambi. This concept drawing from the April shower scene, was rendered in stunning detail by Nino Carbe (1909 - 1993). Carbe, a gifted airbrush artist, was hired as a background painter but was moved to storyboards after Walt saw some of his preliminary sketches for Fantasia. He worked in the original Disney studios on Hyperion in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. In an interesting display of inter-studio cooperation during World War II, Walt Disney lent Carbe to Walter Lantz to make animated Armed Services Medical Training films. This concept piece was beautifully illustrated in graphite on 12 field animation paper. The piece is hand-signed by Nino Carbe and enclosed in a glass-fronted frame of 15" x 12.25". The frame has a fabric covered matboard with an aperture of 10.75" x 8.5". Frame sold as-is. Artwork condition is Fine.
