Description
Cinderella Grand Duke and King Storybook Illustration Original Art (Walt Disney, c. 1950s). "Now sire, remember your blood pressure!" Disney's classic fairytale Cinderella remains one of the studio's popular films, periodically re-released to theaters (as recently as 2013). It was also the subject of many lushly illustrated children's storybooks. Here's an original illustration from one of those editions, showing a very upset King who has been awakened by the Grand Duke with news that the girl from the ball the Prince wants to marry got away. That sword the King is brandishing went from almost knighting the Duke to almost killing him, as they sway back and forth in the chandelier! Note the glass slipper the King is holding. This scene can be found in the film at the 59:21 mark. The artwork is beautifully rendered in gouache and ink edge-to-edge on Bristol board measuring 9.25" x 7.25". Art condition is Fine.Auction Info
