Description

Superman (The Mad Scientist) Swaying Daily Planet Building and Superman Layout Drawing (Max Fleischer, 1941). After destroying a bridge, the Mad Scientist trains his deadly "electrothanasia ray" at the base of the Daily Planet building, causing it to dangerously sway back and forth. Good thing Superman was nearby! Here's an amazing and rare original 16 field layout drawing from that particular scene showing Superman as he flies to the building's top spire, from the very first Fleischer Studios Superman short. You can see this image in online viewings of the cartoon, at about the 7:22 mark, as the Man of Steel grabs the spire and straightens out the shaky skyscraper. The layout drawing is noted as Rendering Guide above the 13" x 9.5" image area. The art is in graphite, and includes the notations "Dark Sky" and "Slight Glow" along the right side. Matted with an opening of 15.75" x 12", framed with an overall size of 24.25" x 23.5" x 1.25". Frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.
