Description

Frank Hampson Eagle V2#50 and #51 Dan Dare Story Page Original Art (Hulton Press, 1952). The Dan Dare story "The Red Moon Mystery" was serialized in Eagle in 1952. The top section of this page appeared in V2#50, and the bottom section was used as the cover art for V2#51. The original art for the original story pages was trimmed to the panel borders and the two pages were combined and repositioned to create a 13.75" x 17.5" image area once affixed to a larger illustration board. This was done in 1973 to prepare the story for reprint in Fleetway's Dan Dare Annual 1974. Some top-notch gorgeous space action by Hampson on this page created in ink over graphite with gouache on Bristol board. Some text is hand-lettered paste-up correction. The original art pieces are lightly toned, with some minor cracking in the paint in places. One panel has a ripped corner. Overall in Very Good condition.
