The Autograph Hound Pair of Original Donald Duck Production Drawings (Walt Disney, 1939). This delightful pair of vintage production drawings features Donald Duck in a pivotal moment from The Autograph Hound (1939), a colorful and star-studded Technicolor short directed by Jack King. Throughout the film, Donald has been hounding Hollywood's biggest stars for autographs-interacting with the likes of Greta Garbo, Mickey Rooney, Sonja Henie, Henry Armetta, and the Ritz Brothers-all while evading a persistent studio security guard. At last, the tables turn in this key scene, found at the 5:37 timestamp, as the guard grabs Donald by the scruff and pulls him through a battleship porthole set piece, shouting triumphantly, "NOW, I got ya!" These expressive drawings capture the moment of Donald's comedic defeat, rendered in graphite with colored pencil on 12-field, 5-peghole animation paper. The short featured the talents of legendary Disney animators Ward Kimball and Shamus Culhane, both of whom contributed to Donald's distinctive personality and timing.
