Description

Peter Poplaski United Cartoon Workers of America Logotype Illustration Original Art (Kitchen Sink Press, 1975). In a symbolic détente between labor and management, publisher/artist Denis Kitchen fostered the development of the United Cartoon Workers of America as a show of solidarity within the Underground Comix movement. This emphatic design by Underground mainstay Poplaski radiates a militant vibe reminiscent of the Industrial Workers of the World and its historic upheavals in the labor-rights arena. A similar design was used for a widely distributed lapel button from Kitchen Sink Press. This vivid specimen is accompanied by a color-printed copy (colors are faded). Ink and knife-blade highlights over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" round. Excellent condition.
From the Denis Kitchen Collection.
