More Information:
Readers of the Funky Winkerbean strip will recall that Lisa was a character in the strip who battled cancer, in a storyline that made writer/artist Tom Batiuk a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
Now, Tom is focusing on a new way to raise money for Lisa's Legacy Fund. He's auctioning original art by some of his favorite comic-book artists who in recent years have contributed to Funky Winkerbean by drawing 20 faux covers, to go with a storyline in which Funky's wife tries to complete her son Cory's comic collection while Cory is serving in Iraq.
Tom explains, "I knew I wanted to do a bunch of comic-book covers in Funky and I didn't want to get sued by Marvel or DC, so I said let's do Starbuck Jones. Then I thought, "What if I could get some guys whose work I have admired to create these faux comic book covers?"
If you don't win one of these lots, or if you do and wish to contribute more to Lisa's Legacy Fund, you can do so online at:
