John Romita Sr. and Tony Mortellaro The Amazing Spider-Man #109 Story Page 8 Original Art (Marvel, 1972). There's trouble in the temple! A group of monks has kidnapped Flash Thompson, believing him responsible for the destruction of their temple and the death of their High Priest during the Vietnam War. Now, they plan to sacrifice him in a ritual to resurrect their fallen leader!At the top of the page, Doctor Strange opens a portal, allowing Spider-Man to witness Flash's peril and gather the clues he needs to rescue his former bully. If this plot-heavy storyline sounds a bit convoluted -- don't worry! Someone (presumably John Romita Sr., based on the handwriting) has provided an in-depth synopsis of the scene, written out on the back of the board! This tense page is rendered in ink over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Trimmed and lightly toned, with whiteout corrections, scratch effects, oil staining that enters the image area in some places, tape with adhesive staining in the margins, and minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
