Description
Jim Valentino and Todd McFarlane Guardians of the Galaxy #5 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1990). The Guardians are shocked by the overwhelming presence of Force, as the heroes are dwarfed by the alien collective on this homage to Jack "King" Kirby's classic cover to The X-Men #4 (which shows the original X-Men under the scrutiny of Magneto and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants [including the first appearances of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch]). A powerful cosmic cover created in ink over graphite and blue pencil on Marvel cover stock Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". The piece has a frame shadow and has been sun-toned. A paper overlay with editorial notes and acetate overlay with stat paste-ups are stapled/taped at the top. Stat logo/header and UPC box paste-ups, staple holes and editorial notes in the margins, whiteout touch-ups, with staining and creasing/handling wear. Signed by the art team in the bottom right image area. In Good condition.From the Jim Valentino Collection.
