Description

Herb Trimpe Marvel Feature #4 Ant-Man Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1972). The first-ever Ant-Man solo comic, this was also the first time Henry Pym had been Ant-Man in almost a decade (having spent the ensuing years as Giant-Man, Goliath, or Yellowjacket). This new-look at the hero would last for seven issues. This cover art was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board sections with an image area of 9.75" x 15". There are several layers of original art paste-up used to compose this image. Each of the bad-guy's legs are a paste-up layer, as is Ant-Man with the 10-penny nail, and the newspaper story on the newspaper in the lower right. The cover captions are all stat paste-ups, as well as the entire masthead/logo. There are quite a few instances of whiteout art correction and cleanups on the page to blend the various art layers. There is also some production tape on the tip of the man's shoe. Toned and signed in the lower right margin. Plexiglas-front framed to 14.75" x 19.75". In Good condition.
