Description
X-Men: The Animated Series "The Phoenix Saga, Part 1 - Sacrifice" Cyclops Original Production Cel (Marvel Studios, 1994). "I'll blast the hatch!" Cyclops, leader of the X-Men, attempts a final effort in this hand-painted cel to save himself and his team from the mysterious gas that is pouring in from the vents, but it is already too late. Originally aired 9/5/1994 as Episode 3 of Season 3, Professor Xavier receives a foreboding vision that leads him to blindly send the X-Men to commandeer a spaceship where they are ambushed by the Shi'ar Agent Erik the Red who has wicked plans for Lilandra, the Empress to the Shi'ar Empire. This episode marks the debut for Erik the Red who was created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum (1943-2006) back in the X-Men #97 (1975). In the comics, Erik the Red was an alter ego of Scott Summers that he invented to infiltrate a villainous organization led by the Master of Magnetism, Magneto, to destroy it from within. The struggling Cyclops can be seen at the 12:02 timestamp of the episode but compared to the show, here he presents a larger figure covering nearly the entire production cel making this an exquisite item to add to any X-Men collection. The image of Cyclops walking measures 8" x 8.75" and is displayed over a scene matching print background for presentation purposes.
