Description

Larry Lieber and Vince Colletta Vault of Evil #13 Cover Original Art (Marvel Comics, 1974). All-around dependable Lieber, a writer-artist mainstay of the Marvel studio, and Stan Lee's brother, contributes an intense boiler-room image, surmounted by a ghostly devil-head figure. The composition brings out the best in veteran inker Colletta, who enhances the demonic image with a fine-line shading of opaque white watercolor. Three word-balloon/title-card pieces (originally pasted in place) have fallen away, exposing portions of the art that were not visible in the published version. Ink over graphite on Bristol board, the image area is 10" x 15". Moderate age-toning and scattered adhesive staining. Very Good condition.
