Description

Charles Schulz Peanuts Sunday Comic Strip Lucy and Charlie Brown Original Art dated 9-20-59 (United Feature Syndicate, 1959). Violet Gray gets the spotlight as she appears in all but one panel of this Sunday. She was the first character added to the original cast of four in 1951, so this is still a fairly early appearance by her. She and her friend Patty were slightly older than Charlie Brown and Lucy (about a year older). Violet was a regular on Charlie Brown's All-Stars baseball team, and by the 1990s that was about the only time she shows up. Her last appearance was in 1997. A great piece that shows Lucy in action, as Charlie Brown and Linus watch from a safe distance. It was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 22.5" x 15.25". The board had previously been folded in half to allow mailing to the syndicate; however, it has been pressed flat and that is all-but invisible now. The board has been affixed to a sheet of illustration board. The logo is a stat paste-up. There is light overall toning, with some whiteout text correction. In Excellent condition.
