Description

Reed Crandall Witzend #4 The Edgar Rice Burroughs Portfolio Part Three John Carter of Mars Illustration Original Art (Witzend, 1968). Reed Crandall outdid himself for the fan-fave series of E. R. Burroughs illustrations that were showcased in Wally Wood's legendary prozine Witzend. Reed Crandall's detailed pen work was ideally suited for the fantasy/sword and sorcery genre. Crandall's control over the cross hatching used to create lighting effects and textures ranks him among the masters of the pen, alongside such giants of illustration as J. C. Coll, Franklin Booth, and Howard Pyle. This super-sized masterwork has an overall size of 15" x 17.5", and the art is in Excellent condition.
