Description
Werner Roth and Vince Colletta Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane #106 Story Page 1 Original Art (DC, 1970). In the late 1960s through the early 1970s, DC made an effort in many of their books to "get relevant" with modern then-current-day society. Some attempts were a bit clumsy, with this one being the most controversial by far. This story was an oblique reference to John Howard Griffin's 1961 book Black Like Me; however, the story title "I Am Curious (Black)" was actually a reference to two Swedish films ("I Am Curious (Yellow)", and "I Am Curious (Blue)"). The films caused a stir in the US for their eroticism, but the plot does not match up to this issue at all. This lovely title page was created in ink over blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15" (including the stat logo and indicia paste-ups).
