Frank Miller and Klaus Janson Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #2 Dark Knight Triumphant Story Page 37 Original Art (DC, 1986). With never enough supply to meet the constant, heated demand, Miller's Dark Knight has truly become the gold standard of the comic art collecting world-and this beauty of a page serves up an excellent sequence featuring Batman, Robin, and Alfred. The action is heating up at this point in the story. Bruce has had the crud beat out of him, and Carrie Kelly is in costume as the new Robin. And the last panel is a bold evocation of Batman's grim ethos that drives the entire series. We even see some of the Mutants in jail already, as well as the ever-present TV screens leading the reader through the cultural battleground, one of Miller's many celebrated formal innovations.It's a great page full of the dense-but-entertaining dystopian story that changed the comics world. Rendered in ink over graphite on DC Bristol board with an image area of 11" x 16.5". Signed by Klaus Janson and dated 6-86 in the lower image area. There is production registration tape in the margins, and Panel 1 is a stripped-in original art piece that is taped from the reverse side. In Excellent condition.
