Peter Pan John and Michael Darling Animation Drawings Pair of 2 (Walt Disney, 1953). Playing the role of fiendish pirate and brave adventurer, John and Michael Darling put on a show in this pair of wonderful 16 field 3-peghole animation drawings. From the monumental 1953 adaptation of Peter Pan, this artwork is part of the production history of the Disney studio's last film in which all the members of Walt's Nine Old Men worked together as directing animators. Supervising the animation of the John and Michael were two of Walt Disney's "Nine Old Men" and Disney Legend inductees, Milt Kahl (1909-1987) and Ward Kimball (1914-2002). These delightful set of drawings take place in the same sequence starting around 3:03 timestamp, as the brothers play fight in the nursery. Starting with the defensive John, he's rendered with graphite pencil, notated as a keyframe 175, and measures about 5" x 5.75". Then on the attack is Michael, rendered with graphite and brown color pencil, noted C191, and measures 4" x 5.5". Michaels sheet also features some fun animation notations, a brown outlined box tracking camera movement, an ease-in timing chart, and a rough sketch of John's figure for where he would be in the matching frame. Both pages have handling and edge wear, age-related toning, and minor page wrinkling with Michael's page also having a middle peghole support from production. Overall, both drawings are in Very Good condition.Auction Info
