Description

Action Comics #18 (DC, 1939) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Off-white to white pages. A superb copy tied for the top spot on the CGC census, where it outscores the Billy Wright copy by a whopping three points. We've offered a VF/NM 9.0 only once before, and that was way back in 2002! Since then, we've encountered copies in FN+ 6.5 until this handsome devil showed up. Fred Guardineer's aerial dogfight cover was the last non-Superman cover of the title. Contents include a Superman story by Jerry Siegel, the origin and first appearance of the Three Aces, and a Zatara story. Story artists include Guardineer, Joe Shuster, Bernard Baily, and Bob Kane. Contains two ads for the 1939 World's Fair in New York. Overstreet 2024 VF/NM 9.0 value = $12,300; NM- 9.2 value = $17,500. CGC census 10/25: 2 in 9.0, none higher.
From the Lee Family Collection.
