Description

Zap Comix #1 First Printing (Apex Novelties, 1967) CGC VF- 7.5 Cream to off-white pages. A very attractive first-printing copy of Robert Crumb's historic first comic book, one that is to Undergrounds what Action Comics #1 is to superhero comics. Fewer than 5,000 issues were printed and folded by hand, and then sold out of a baby carriage on the streets of Berkeley and San Francisco, so finding copies this nice can be quite a challenge. This copy features the somewhat lighter shade of blue (in the Zap logo) that was determined to be from the very beginning of the run, a shade Crumb was not pleased with, but one many collectors actually prefer. Fogel's Underground Comix Price Guide FN 6.0 value = $4,800; NM 9.4 value = $8,000. CGC census 4/11: 8 in 7.5, 20 higher.
