Jaime Hernandez Love and Rockets #1 Story Page 8 Penny Century First Appearance Original Art (Fantagraphics, 1982). The story "Mechan-X Starring Maggie, Race, Hopey" was not only the first appearance for all three of those characters, but this last page was the very first appearance of everybody's crush Penny Century! That first panel is an incredible image of Maggie, Penny, and Hopey standing at the Bus stop. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Some of the dialog in Panels 1 and 2 is hand-lettered paste-up. The toned page was signed by Jaime Hernandez (as "Xaime") and dated 1988 in the lower right margin.
