Description

Paul Smith and Bob Wiacek The Uncanny X-Men #172 Wolverine and Rogue Story Page 22 Original Art (Marvel, 1983). After fleeing to Xavier's school for help in the previous issue, this pivotal scene finds Rogue declaring herself an X-Man for the very first time, as she insists on backing up a still-skeptical Wolverine on his mission to confront the Silver Samurai. With his teammates injured and his fiancée, Mariko, in danger, the Adamantium-clawed mutant has little choice but to affirm Rogue's new place among the X-Men on this issue-closing page.
This significant moment from Paul Smith's short but legendary run on The Uncanny X-Men is elegantly rendered in ink and Zipatone over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 10" x 15". The "Next Issue" teaser is a paste-up with residue discoloration. Light toning, three production-clipped corners, staining in the left margin, and corner/edge wear. In Excellent condition.
