Description

Mike Roy Famous Funnies #217 Cover Original Art (Eastern Color, 1953). This Famous Funnies cover featuring Buck Rogers and three companions overlooking a launch site was illustrated by Mike Roy, replacing Frank Frazetta's original artwork, which was deemed too violent under the newly introduced Comics Code Authority. Frazetta's cover was later used for Weird Science-Fantasy #29. This issue marked the end of Buck Rogers' run on the series covers, closing a significant chapter in the history of Famous Funnies. This larger-than-twice-up piece is a generous 15" x 22", crafted in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 14.25" x 20.25". Toned, smudging, stat title and logo, re-creation of the "Famous Funnies" logo, spot stains, and edge/handling wear. In Very Good condition.
