Description

Dave Gibbons Watchmen #1 Story Page 10 Original Art (DC, 1986). Dan Dreiberg (Nite Owl) is in for a shock after his walk home when he encounters Rorschach chowing down on beans uninvited. This shadowy page uses the series' iconic nine-panel grid to tell a complete story, with the moody dystopian atmosphere giving way to an absurd punchline. The opening panel includes lyrics from "Neighborhood Threat" by Iggy Pop, while the second panel references Nostalgia by Veidt perfume, a recurring motif for the series. One of the most acclaimed comics/graphic novels of all time, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen is a major cultural landmark, and original art from the series commands premium prices. This page from the opening issue is very representative of the series overall while still having its own unique sense of humor. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15.75". Small whiteout corrections, light warping and handling wear. The board is toned, and there is sun fading to central image area. In Very Good condition.
